Q. How do I log on to Library Databases (i.e. ProQuest, Westlaw)?

Students can access all Library Databases from off-campus using the following instructions:

To access Library Databases:

From the Databases page, click on the name of the database you want to access.

When prompted, enter your Canvas credentials (SID and Canvas password). Note: Faculty and staff use their Canvas credentials (usually: first.last and Canvas password).

Winter Quarter 2021 Note: With the switch to ctcLink, students may be using their new ctcLink ID and password to log into Canvas. Please continue to use your old SID and password to access library databases for the remainder of the quarter.

Issues logging in?

Reset your Canvas password (this resolves most issues!). You can "reset" it to the same password you currently have, but going through the reset process will fix login problems. Again, this link is to reset your SID and password and will not affect your new ctcLink ID and password.

If that doesn't work, try the troubleshooting tips on this page.

If you are still having issues, email our Systems Librarian: dan.moore@edcc.edu

Things to know:

Students can only access databases when they are enrolled in an Edmonds course. If you are waitlisted, recently dropped a class, or the quarter has not yet begun, you may not be able to authenticate to the databases until that is resolved.

Security settings on workplace computers often don't allow our authentication system to work. If you are unable to access the databases from a workplace or employer-provided computer, try it from a personal device to see if that is what is causing the issue.

Make sure you have the correct database link. Copying a URL from the URL bar, following a link in a Canvas course or searching for the name of a database on Google will often not get you to the right authentication page. Going directly from the database links on the library website is the best way to access the databases.
