How can I access the New York Times?
Do we have a subscription to the New York Times online? How can a read a NYT article assigned by my instructor?
Answer
Edmonds College students can use their @student.edmonds.edu email to register for a free New York Times All Access account. Faculty and staff can use their @edmonds.edu email to register.
To sign up, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to www.accessnyt.com
Step 2: Search for and select "Edmonds College - Lynnwood, WA.” You will be redirected to the NYT registration page.
Step 3: Click "Create Account" and enter your email in the Email Address box; you must use your @student.edmonds.edu email (Triton Email). Do not use the "continue with" social links below the Email Address box. They will not work.
Step 4: Verify your account (you will receive a confirmation email).*
* The confirmation email may be routed to your spam folder. You must click the link in this email to complete the registration.
Step 5: Once you have your account activated, you can sign into https://www.nytimes.com or the NYT Apps with your account.
Step 6: [Optional] Adjust your App notifications and email newsletter subscriptions in your account. If you need help with that, please reach out!
If you have an existing New York Times account, follow these steps:
If you have previously registered your @.edu email address on The New York Times site, you will need to cancel your existing subscription and delete your existing account before activating the free account. If you have registered an account with another email address, you can follow the steps above to activate prior to cancelling, however, you may need to log out and clear your cookies/cache before attempting to activate.
If you have issues or questions, please see this guide with more information and screen shots.
